Chandigarh, March 5 (IANS) New Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit believes that development work done by the Congress-led central government during its tenure has “generated people’s confidence” in the party and will ensure its victory in the Lok Sabha elections.
“Projects like the nuclear deal with the US and implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) are historical and very important for India. Developmental works done by our government have generated people’s confidence in us and we will win the (Lok Sabha) elections,” said Sheila Dikshit while interacting with media persons here Thursday.
Talking about terrorism, she said: “Terrorism is not a problem of single party or any individual. It is a widespread problem and every community has to collectively fight to erase this menace.”
Dikshit had come to Chandigarh to attend a convocation function at a college here.
Criticising their main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Dikshit said: “BJP is playing vote bank politics by raising the issue of Ram Temple. They have hurt the religious sentiments of various communities in the past and now they are trying to get undue mileage from this issue.”
About the candidates for polls in Delhi, Dikshit said: “We will go with our winning candidates. I cannot disclose our strategy right now but one thing is for sure that people of Delhi have full belief in us.”
