Mumba : Indian equities posted handsome gains Friday, with a key index ending trade almost 5 percent higher than its previous close.
The 30-scrip Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index (Sensex), which opened at 8,480.74 points, ended at 8,756.61 points – an increase of 412.86 points or 4.95 percent from its previous close.
Similarly, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 4.13 percent from its last close to shut shop at 2,725.45 points.
The BSE midcap index ended 2.96 percent higher, while the BSE smallcap index was up 1.97 percent.
