The late Thursday attack in Barjo village of the Kurram tribal district bordering the Afghan province of Khost also injured more than 40 people, mostly militants, the report said, quoting sources.

“The drone fired two Hellfire missiles on a house where local militants were residing,” an official told the newspaper.

Most of those killed were believed to be locals, Afghan Taliban or Al Qaeda-linked foreign fighters, he said on condition of anonymity.

In the past four months, US forces have carried out about 36 air raids, killing dozens of suspected Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters in the restive tribal regions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
