New Delhi : Writers, artistes and academicians from Saarc countries have pledged to build bridges between Pakistan and India and in the region for establishing peace.
A four-day Saarc Festival of Literature began in Agra on Friday in which authors, artistes, academicians from all Saarc countries are participating.
Expressing their views at the inaugural ceremony, they said there was dire need to promote peace and understanding among Saarc countries particularly between Pakistan and India which are passing through their difficult phase of relations.
Saarc Secretary General Sheel Kant Sharma hoped the creative minds of the Saarc gathered in the moot could make it broad-based and provide for Saarc’s growth and cohesion.
Ajeet Cour, President of Foundation of Saarc Writers and Literature who has organised the event said “If life has to move forward, we have to find ways to mend the torn souls, chisel out new values for reconciliation, to forge peace in this age of turbulence.”
