According to the media reports the Mumbai police commissioner Hasan Ghafoor said since no claimant of the corpses came so far “we intend to approach the special court set up to conduct the 26/11 trial once the trial begins.” Asked where they will be buried, he said it will be done as per the law.

Notably the Muslims organizations of Maharashtra especially Mumbai district had denied burial of the bodies of the terrorists in the city graveyards saying they were not Muslims due to their committing terrorism which is prohibited in Islam. Since then the bodies have been kept in Cold Room No 3 of J J Hospital morgue.

It was on November 26, 2008 that Mumbai city witnessed the deadliest ever terrorist attack that lasted nearly 60 hours claiming 175 persons. Besides capturing one terrorist Ajmal Amir Qasab alive, the security officers gunned down nine others in the encounter that lasted for 60 hours.
