Moscow : Armenia’s Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian said the construction of Iran-Armenia railway hold a strategic importance for his country.
He said the railway, once opened, would provide a fresh route for transit of Armenian goods and fuel to other countries.
According to the initial calculations, the railway will cost about dlrs 2 million. The World Bank and Asian Development Bank have so far expressed interest in contributing to the project.
The prime minister said 13 plans had been proposed for the construction of the railway among which the one offered by Iranian experts was picked up as the most suitable.
