New Delhi : The Communist Party of India (CPI) Sunday ruled out post-poll alliance with the Congress saying the party had “betrayed” the nation by signing the civil nuclear deal with the US.
“We do feel that the India-US civil nuclear deal is a betrayal of the Congress,” said Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, deputy general secretary of the CPI.
“They betrayed the people of the country, they betrayed the Nehruvian foreign policy and they betrayed the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) by signing the nuclear deal,” Reddy told IANS.
He was reacting to Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s comment in an interview about his party’s commitment that the India-US nuclear deal were not negotiable and he did not think “the Left feels a sense of betrayal.”
Reddy said the Third Front will form the government at the centre after the polls.
“There is no question of supporting a Congress-led government. We are confident that our Third Front will form the government (after the elections),” Reddy said.
