“Government employees are the backbone of our administrative system. The BJP believes that their legitimate demands must be met. I appeal to all government and PSU (public sector unit) employees in Delhi and elsewhere to vote for the candidates fielded by the BJP and its allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA),” Advani said in a statement.

Polling will be held Thursday in seven states – Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Bihar, Haryana, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Delhi.

According to Advani, there is a lot of dissatisfaction among government employees over the Sixth Pay Commission’s recommendations due to “injustice” done to employees in Groups B, C and D categories and the NDA, if elected to office, would set right these anomalies.

“The BJP in its manifesto has already raised the income tax exemption limit from Rs.150,000 to Rs.300,000. This will benefit a large number of government and PSU employees, besides others,” he said.
