New Delhi : Black and white poll symbols like candle, banana, balloon, kite, letter box, cupboard, cylinder, torch and cricketer were up for grabs at the polling booths here, but found few takers.
Standing in queue waiting to vote, people giggled over these polls symbols.
“I will vote for kite, because kite flying has been my passion since childhood,” Anil Sharma said jokingly to his friends at a polling booth in west Delhi.
Sharma’s friend Vikas Kaushal replied: “Your mind’s bulb is fused, I guess you should vote for torch.”
Another voter in east Delhi, Anurag Malhotra told IANS: “These symbols hardly matter. They are there in every elections and nobody gives a proper look at them. People are only bothered about BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) or Congress in Delhi.”
He said most people relate to symbols of national parties like the Lotus flower of the BJP, hand of the Congress party, elephant of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and cycle of the Samajwadi Party.
Bucket, rail engine, street light, ceiling fan, sewing machine were among the other poll symbols that vied to catch the voters’ attention.
