The BJP chief, who was on a “thanksgiving” visit to the constituency, told IANS that he was confident of the NDA winning power, and then ensuring projects worth Rs.2,000-2,500 crore (Rs.20-25 billion) to Ghaziabad.

He said it was his dream to bring the Delhi Metro to Ghaziabad because the speedy development of the city was directly linked to its connectivity to the national capital, which is adjacent.

Although he would devote his entire energy for the development of the city, it would have been easier for him to bring mega projects if NDA had been in power at the centre, he added.

The BJP chief, who interacted with city residents in a park near his house in the Raj Nagar area, assured them that he would take up power supply problem, especially the constant tripping due to local faults, with officials.

Thanking the people for their support, he expressed concern about the discrimination against the city on various issues including fixing its boundaries. He said all the slum areas were included in Ghaziabad district while “best areas” were made part of the neighbouring Gautam Budh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh without any “scientific grounds”.
