Maulana Azad Urdu Univ offers Masters in journalism, business administration

New Delhi: Whereas Maulana Azad National Urdu University’s School of Mass Communication and Journalism (SMCJ) is offering two-year M.A. in mass communication and journalism (MCJ) through Urdu medium, its School of Management and Commerce has come up with MBA program.

Giving details of MCJ program, SMCJ president Ehtisham Ahmad Khan said: “The two-year course comprises four semesters. The program is designed to meet the needs of mass communication through Urdu language in both print and electronic media. It will suit employment opportunities in TV channels, FM radios and news websites besides newspapers and other periodicals.” The department also has career guidance facilities.

Besides two-year MBA course, the University’s School of Management and Commerce is also starting Bachelor of Business Management from the academic year 2009-10.

Maulana Azad National Urdu University was established in 1998 by an Act of the Parliament as a Central University with an All India jurisdiction. The objective of the university, defined in the Act, is to promote and develop the Urdu language, provide higher, technical and vocational education in the Urdu medium and to provide focus on women’s education. The headquarters of the university is in Hyderabad. Dr. Syeda Saiyidain Hameed, Member, Planning Commission, and Prof. A.M. Pathan are the present Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor respectively.
