Balachaur (Punjab) : Five people including four of a family were killed when their car collided with a truck, near this town in Punjab’s Nawanshahar district Sunday, police said.
“The family was returning to their home in Panchkula town in Haryana after attending a religious function in Punjab’s Jalandhar city. Five people died on the spot while the sixth occupant of the car has been admitted to the civil hospital here,” a police official said.
He said the truck driver had fled from the spot following the accident.
The deceased were identified as Ashwani Aggarwal, his wife Pooja, son Dhruv, nephew Archit and driver Pawan Kumar.
Balachaur town is around 75 km from the state capital Chandigarh.
