Ranchi : Questioning the Election Commission’s move to reschedule dates of elections in four assembly constituencies, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday alleged that the Congress has influenced the poll panel to “improve” its position in Jharkhand.
“The Congress is trying to influence the Election Commission and district administrations in the state. Its position is weak in the state and the rescheduling of dates of four assembly constituencies is a move to improve Congress’ position,” former chief minister and BJP Lok Sabha MP Arjun Munda told reporters here.
“The people of the state have made up their mind to elect a stable government in the state and BJP is in a comfortable position in the state. We are getting tremendous support from people and we are sure to form the government in the state,” he said.
“The Congress is adopting different methods to influence the voters in the election,” Munda added.
The Election Commission Monday rescheduled polling dates of four assembly constituencies – Sikaripara, Dumka, Jama and Jarmundi. Now, voting for these seats will take place on Dec 8 instead of Nov 25.
The poll panel said the dates were rescheduled due to error in translation of nomination forms.
The five-phased Jharkhand assembly polls begin Nov 25 and end Dec 18. The counting of votes will take place Dec 23.
