Bhopal:At least three students of a girl’s college in Indore were arrested Friday for misbehaving with their principal who fainted and had to be hospitalised, police said.
The girls belong to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP – the Bharatiya Janata Party’s student wing) to which those accused in the Professor Sabharwal murder case of Ujjain belonged.
“The girls, of New Government Girls Degree College, wanted to discuss the issue of eve-teasing in the college. More than a dozen of them went to the principal Manjula Choube’s room and demanded immediate action against the culprits,” an eyewitness told the police.
They shouted at the principal and allegedly threatened her. The principal fainted and was taken to hospital. “Her condition is said to be stable,” said Shailendra Singh Chauhan, a senior police official.
The three girls were later released on bond by a local Indore court. “Some girls were very aggressive while discussing the instances of eve teasing following which the principal fainted,” Chauhan said.
