Students attacked in Mangalore

Kochi: Five students were attacked in Mangalore when they were travelling in bus on Sunday. It is said they were attacked due to their inter-religious friendship, the two girls being Hindu and the three boys Muslim.
The students were reportedly travelling to the city to attend a sports competition when they were attacked at Vamanjoor. They were to meet their physical education teacher at the railway station. The beaten up boys were admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

Reports also suggest that a group of people pelted stones at the bus. The area turned tense soon after the incident and shops were shut down. However, the police have brought the situation under control and a case has been registered reportedly.

The Sri Ram Sene headed by Pramod Muthalik had opposed inter-religious friendships and its activists had reportedly even attacked people of different religions for talking or walking together. However, it is not yet known as to who or which organisation is beind the recent attack.
