Kasargod: Muslim Youth League for agitation

Kochi: Allowing the Kasargod SP Ramdas Pothen to continue in office is a challenge against the Kerala society, said the state working committee of the Muslim Youth League. The eagerness with which the government and the home minister are protecting him shows conspiracy, the meeting opined.

The Youth League would organise strong agitation if the SP is not charged with murder. The organisation would hold a protest dharna in front of the DIG office in Kannur on December 3 against the atrocities of the police. President KM Shaji presided over the meeting.

The police arrested five more persons in connection with the violence in the Kasargod city on November 15. Santhosh Kumar, Deepak, Dayanand, Faisal and a 17-year old student were arrested by the police yesterday. Now the total number of those arrested has come to 22. The police are conducting raids to arrest other persons involved also.

Two people were killed and several others injured in the police firing and violence that took place in Kasargod on November 15. Shafeek was killed when SP Ramdas Pother fired at the mob and Azhar was stabbed to death by a group of men. Violence erupted in the city following the public meeting of the Muslim League.
