Mumbai: The government Thursday handed over letters of petro-product dealerships to families of the five uniformed men killed in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
Home Minister P. Chidambaram handed over the appointment letters from public sector oil companies to the widows of the five men at a special function in Mumbai Thursday.
The beneficiaries were Vinita Ashok Kamte, wife of deputy commissioner of police Ashok Kamte; Shraddha V. Khandekar, wife of constable Vijay Madhukar Khandekar; Pratibha Patil, wife of constable Jaywant Hanumant Patil; Madhavi P. More, wife of sub-inspector Prakash Pandurang More and Vineeta Singh, wife of National Security Guard commando Gajendra Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Petroleum Minister Murli Deora said the chief executives of public sector oil companies have been instructed to monitor the progress of commissioning of outlets to families of fallen uniformed personnel.
The petroleum and natural gas ministry had decided to allot 18 petro-product dealerships, out of which one beneficiary had refused to accept it.
Out of the 17, nine dealership appointments have been given so far. Another two will be commissioned by next stage and the rest are at an “advance stage of commissioning”.
