Jammu: President Pratibha Patil Friday visited the forward posts on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and asked the soldiers to “be vigilant and maintain a high degree of preparedness to meet any eventualities along the border”.
Patil, who is the supreme commander of the armed forces, lauded the army’s role in “maintaining peace and tranquility along the LoC and in the hinterland”, a defence release said here.
“Every citizen of India is proud of you all,” Patil said.
She expressed her full satisfaction at the “exemplary work being done by all ranks towards tackling terrorism and ensuring normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir”, the statement said.
Patil also acknowledged the contribution of the families of army personnel for providing the much needed support and motivation to the troops.
