Poll panel suspends Haryana official, transfers two others

New Delhi: The Election Commission Sunday suspended an official and transferred two others in Haryana on complaints filed by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD).

In a letter to the INLD president Om Prakash Chautala, the poll panel said: “Based on you complaints, Radhey Shyam Mittal, naib tehsildar, HUDA (Haryana Urban Development Agency), Faridabad, has been put under suspension, and Harish Kumar, jail superintendent, Kurukshetra, and Parmjit Kaur, DPRO, Hissar, have been transferred out of the districts, besides remedial action taken in several other cases.”

The commission said it has been “pained to learn through different newspapers about the allegations that the INLD has levelled against it”.

“It may be seen that the complaints have been immediately enquired into and action has been promptly taken in all cases wherever it was called for,” the poll panel said.

The commission said it “takes seriously the complaints received from all political parties and through its well laid out mechanism of grievance redressal at all levels, takes due and timely steps to address them”.

Elections to the Haryana assembly will be held Tuesday.
