Shimla: A century-old wooden building was gutted in a fire Sunday near this capital town of Himachal Pradesh, police said. However, there was no loss of life.
“A century-old wooden private building was completely destroyed in a massive fire this (Sunday) afternoon at Sanjauli,” Superintendent of Police (Shimla) R.M. Sharma told IANS. Sanjauli is located on the outskirts of Shimla.
Sharma said a major tragedy was averted as the five-storeyed building had been rented out to 11 tenants.
“The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, there is no loss of life. It took more than six hours to extinguish the fire,” he added.
