Efforts on to free 2 Indians aboard hijacked Singapore ship

New Delhi : India Monday intensified efforts to secure the release of two Indian crew members who were aboard a Singaporean ship which was hijacked by Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden.

The Indian mission is in regular touch with the Singaporean company as well as the shipping company, an official source said here.

The shipping company is also in regular touch with family members of the two crew members, the source said.

“The Indian hostages are safe… We have stepped up efforts to get them released,” the source added.

The Singaporean ship MV Kota Wajar was hijacked Thursday by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean, about 500 km north of the Seychelles islands.
