Kuwait : The Constitutional Court issued rulings Wednesday on 11 cases filed contesting the 2009 elections and considered one parliament membership void, declared new MP, and rejected challenge over female candidates’ “Hijab”.
The Court earlier ruled, Presided by Chief Justice Faisal Abdelaziz Al-Mershed, that Badi Al-Dowsiri’s parliament membership was void and that Khalid Al-Adwa was now the new MP in the Fifth Constituency.
As for the case concerning failure of female MPs to mind Islamic dress code and dun the “Hijab”, the case by Sadoun Al-Mutawwa and Mubarak Al-Mutawwa naming MPs Rola Dashti and Aseel Al-Awadhi was also rejected.
The court had considered 11 cases filed by candidates contesting 2009 municipal and parliamentary elections, one contesting the municipal results and another ten concerning the parliamentary elections.
All challenges were rejected but Al-Adwa’s, who is now MP in the Fifth Constituency.
