All four were abducted from their houses at gunpoint and shot dead.

On Saturday night, CPI-M activist Satish Singh was killed at Talpukuria under Belpahari police station and party supporter Sashanka Sekhar Roy was fatally shot in Salboni, Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Surajit Kar Purakayastha told IANS.

The two bullet-ridden bodies were found Sunday night from Chandbill village under Dherua gram panchayat area of Midnapur sadar block Sunday.

“We have received information that two more bodies have been found. But the police cannot go to the area at night, as it is raining heavily there,” Purakayastha said.

CPI-M sources alleged that 42 people, including 32 party activists, have died in Lalgarh region since the party-led West Bengal government launched the joint security operations by deploying paramilitary troopers and state police June 18 to flush out leftwing extremists.

The ultras had virtually made areas in and around Lalgarh, about 200 km west of Kolkata, in the neighbouring West Midnapore district a ‘free zone’ since November last year.
