New Delhi : Two swine flu patients — a 12-year-old girl and a 69-year-old man — are critical and are on ventilator at a Delhi hospital, doctors said Monday.
“Both of them are in very critical condition and we are keeping our fingers crossed,” N.K. Chaturvedi, medical superintendent of the Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, told IANS.
They were diagnosed with the H1N1 virus late last week but have other health complications as well.
“The girl has a respiratory problem and the 69-year-old male is suffering from renal failure,” Chaturvedi said.
Doctors are keeping a close watch on these two patients, he added.
Eleven swine flu patients, including the girl and the elderly man, are in RML Hospital now.
So far three people have succumbed to the contagious Influenza A (H1N1) in the national capital. The city has reported 809 cases so far — the second highest in the country. However, over 80 percent of them have been cured.
India has registered 4,783 cases of swine flu since early May when the first case was reported from Hyderabad. Of these, 132 have succumbed to the disease.
