Basharat Bashir is one of the proud footballer of the valley who has been selected for an international football tournament. The story was also published in a leading national newspaper. However, he was denied the passport as the CID report has pointed out that his father was involved in militancy.

Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah immediately intervened and advised the CID Department to immediately clear the name of Basharat Bashir for clearance of Passport because he cannot be punished for fault which his kith has committed.

As free citizen Basharat has every right to have a passport, accordingly CID cleared his name and today Basharat Bashir is the happiest person after he received his passport.

Omer has several times made it clear that no person should be barred from getting a passport even if their kiths and kins are related to militancy. In case of Hajj pilgrims also the same method was adopted even if their kiths and kins were found involved in militancy. The Chief Minister advised the concerned authorities to clear the passports of all intending Hajj pilgrims.

These steps have received appreciation from the general public and also from those who have benefited from the step.
