Cleanse intelligence agencies from communal influence, increase Muslim presence: PFI

By TwoCircles.net News Desk,

New Delhi: The Popular Front of India has urged the Central Government to revamp the central Intelligence Bureau and other intelligence agencies by cleansing them from communal and fascist influence. The PFI in its Central Secretariat meeting also demanded special recruitment to ensure adequate representation of Muslims in various intelligence agencies which is near zero now.

The meeting held on September 18 shared the concern expressed by the Prime Minister in the top police officers meeting convened by Intelligence Bureau about the alarming increase in the number of organized attacks in different states. “He has rightly pointed out that Maoist attacks cannot be treated as merely a law and order problem,” said PFI Secretary O. M. A. Salam, adding that the meeting urged the Central and State governments to attend the basic needs of the rural poor and put an end to human rights violations by the police as means of saving the people from the control of extremists.
PFI, however, termed it as “unfortunate that both Prime Minister and Home Minister who addressed the police officers meeting failed to mention the threat posed by the Hindutva fascist outfits spread throughout the country to public life and law and order.”

PFI has demanded the Central Government to make arrangements to include data about caste of the citizens in the Census 2011. The non-availability of caste data very often leads to contradicting claims of their strength by different castes. The Supreme Court while hearing the case on reservation in higher education has also pointed out the non-availability of caste-wise population data as a factor which adversely affects decisions on quota allotment.

The organization has decided that its units in all states will undertake a public health campaign “Healthy People, Healthy Nation” during 1-15 November.

PFI Chairman E. M. Abdul Rahiman presided over the meeting attended by General Secretary K. M. Shareef, A. Saeed, O.M. A. Salam and E. Abubacker.
