Congress leader’s guard kills militant in Kashmir

Srinagar: A separatist guerrilla was killed when the security guard of Congress’ Pulwama district chief opened fire after militants attacked the leader’s house in Jammu and Kashmir Sunday evening, police said.

Inspector General of Police (Kashmir zone) Farooq Ahmad told IANS: “Militants attacked the house of Abdul Gani Dar, Pulwama Congress district president, in Rohama village late this (Sunday) evening.”

“Dar’s security guard returned fire and killed one militant while the other is believed to have been injured before he escaped,” the officer said.

“Security forces have surrounded the area and are now carrying out searches to locate the surviving militant,” he added.

Dar escaped unhurt in the attack and additional security has been provided to him, the police official said.
