Chennai : Demanding a white paper on the power cuts in Tamil Nadu, the entire opposition except the PMK staged a walk-out of the state assembly Monday.
Responding to the calling attention motion by different parties, Law Minister Duraimurugan said the government is taking steps to augment the power supply.
He said the government is taking steps to get more power from the central grid while power cuts in Tamil Nadu are lesser then those taking place in other states of the country.
The minister said that while there are no power cuts in the state capital, the districts experience only three hours of power cuts.
He said the power demand in the state is around 11,000 MW whereas the generation is around 7,300 MW.
Meanwhile, the assembly’s Business Advisory Council has decided to conduct the budget session till May 14.
