The blasts ripped through the camp near the Kohat town. The camp provides shelter for people displaced in the military operation against the Taliban in Orakzai.

A purported spokesman for the group, Salman Haider, phoned reporters in Peshawar to claim responsibility for the blasts, Xinhua reported.

At least 41 people were killed and dozens of others injured in the blasts at Kacha Pakha, 20 km south of Kohat.

An official said the first bomber detonated the explosives when people were queuing up to receive aid handouts. The second bomber struck as the injured of the first blast were being shifted to hospitals.

Some 300 people were at the camp when the blasts occurred. Sources said those killed, including a TV reporter, were Shia Muslims from Orakzai.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani have strongly condemned the bombings and ordered an immediate inquiry.
