“We are soon going to start an anti-stalker cell which will provide relief to women in the capital who are stalked by strangers and some times office colleagues and neighbours but are unable to do anything about it,” Delhi Police commissioner Y.S. Dadwal said at a press conference here Friday.

The cell will be functional in a month’s time “or even less” and will mainly comprise women police officers, he said.

“Any woman being stalked by someone can call up the listed telephone number of the anti-stalker cell and lodge a complaint. The action henceforth will be the responsibility of Delhi Police officials,” he said. The telephone number was not announced by the police commissioner.

The announcement is yet another effort at impeccable security arrangement ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games between Oct 3 and 14.

“If city is secure, everything is secure,” Dadwal said.
