New Delhi : Indian authorities are all set to destroy some 24 kg of explosives recovered during the Mumbai terror attacks as soon as the verdict in the trial of lone surviving militant Mohammed Ajmal Amir alias Kasab is out next week, sources said Thursday.
“The 24 kg of RDX seized from the target spots of the Mumbai terror attacks would be disposed of in a controlled atmosphere in India’s financial capital after Kasab’s verdict is out on May 3.
“The special court, which is hearing the case, has already given the go ahead for destruction of the explosives which were produced as evidence,” PTI cited the sources as saying.
The huge cache of explosives was recovered from three unexploded devices in Nov 2008 from the ten terrorists who carried out the mayhem, which claimed the lives of over 170 people, including foreign nationals.
All the terrorists, except Kasab, were shot dead by police during the attacks.
