Railway Minister E. Ahmed inaugurates Ambur model station

Ambur (Tamil Nadu): The Union Minister of State for Railways E. Ahmed inaugurated the new model station building at Ambur at a function held on July 31. The building at estimated cost of around Rs.3 crore is nearing completion.

The minister said that the Railways has incurred a loss of Rs.7000 due to uneconomical stops. He said the final account is being furnished by the Comptroller of and Auditor General (CAG). The minister said it when some speakers in the function demanded halts of certain trains at Ambur Station. He also mentioned that if train halts at a particular station, it takes 13 minutes to gain momentum.

Recalling the frequent train accidents chiefly caused by the wrongdoers he expressed a serious concern and said that a joint action of both Home Ministry and Railway ministry will augur better possible solution to the threat. Ahmed also spoke on the internal measure being taken seriously to ensure safety and security to the passengers as most important priority.

Speaking about the quality of food and the complaints received, he said that this area has been completely reviewed and there would be revised catering system, taking direct care of all the pantry cars in the running trains. He wished the authorities to complete the work of the building in question in a speedier way.
