Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party Sunday said it will attend an all-party meet on Kashmir called by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi Tuesday.
The party had boycotted the all-party meet convened by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah July 12, contending he had lost the “moral right to rule” as his “misgovernance had brought the state to a brink of disaster”. Almost 50 people have died and hundreds have been injured in violence in the Kashmir Valley since June 11.
“We will present our point of view before prime minister, regarding the situation in the state, why it went wrong and where it went wrong,” state party chief Balwant Singh Mankotia said in a release after a meeting of the party’s working committee.
The Panther Party’s legislature party leader Harshdev Singh was not present in the meeting.
The party has three members – all elected from the Jammu region – in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly. Out of the 37 seats in the region, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won the maximum number – 11.
The BJP had attended the meeting convened by Omar Abdullah, where it had opposed the constitution of an inquiry commission to probe the deaths in the Valley.
This time too, the BJP would be attending the meet in New Delhi, party sources told IANS.
