Not satisfied with the enquiry by the Gujarat Police, the mother of Ishrat Jahan had appealed for the CBI enquiry in the Gujarat High Court.

Rauf Lala, a close associate of Ishrat jahan family told TwoCircles.net that they are going to challenge the decision in the Supreme Court. He said, “The high court has opted for the middle way. It has neither granted a CBI enquiry to us nor did the court is satisfied with the probe by the Gujarat Police and therefore it has handed over the case to SIT headed by ex-CBI director Mr. RK Raghvan.”

He also pointed out that the SIT has been told to submit its report in 3 months. He added,

“High Court slammed the Gujarat government and also found Justice Tamang’s Report to be of recommendatory value,” he added.

Justice Tamang who had conducted the enquiry after the encounter held that the Ishrat Jahan encounter was fake and it was done in cold blood by the
Police officials in September, 2009 to get the promotion.

Ishrat Jahan, a 19 years old girl form Mumbra, Mumbai, was killed in an encounter on 15th June, 2004 along with Javed Shaikh, Amjad Ali and others
in Ahmedabad by the Crime Branch team, headed by DIG DG Vanzara.

Vanzara is now under scanner of CBI, for allegedly killing Sohrabuddin in a fake encounter.

The story of Ishrat jahan encounter has quite a few twists and turns. She was alleged to be a Let commander who had caome to kill Narendra Modi. Then Jsutice Tamang enquiry report found this encounter as fake and held the concerned police officials guilty.

Central government has also filed an affidavit claiming that Ishrat Jahan was in direct touch with Javed sheikh, LeT operative who was encountered
along with 3 others.
