New Delhi : The Rajya Sabha is likely to have a sitting on Aug 21, a Saturday, instead of Aug 23, a Monday, due to the Onam festival.
The business advisory committee of Rajya Sabha recommended that the house will take up private members business Aug 21, instead of Friday (Aug 20).
The advisory committee recommended that the private members business may be dispensed with in favor of government legislative business on Aug 20. The committee also recommended that there will be no sitting of Rajya Sabha on Aug 23.
The changes have been recommended as Onam, one of the major festivals of Kerala, falls on Aug 23. With this, the Rajya Sabha will have a three day break as Raksha Bandhan falls on Aug 24.
However, there will be no question hour in the sitting Aug 21.
