Opposition to target Dikshit over Games

New Delhi : The five-day session of the Delhi assembly is set to begin on a stormy note Tuesday with the opposition preparing to attack the Congress government over the Commonwealth Games preparations.

Speaker Yoganand Shastri announced Monday that the discussion on the Oct 3-14 Games would take place Tuesday while a debate on the price rise would follow Wednesday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit over alleged financial irregularities in the works related to the Games.

The speaker said the demand for a discussion on the Games was made both by the opposition and the ruling party.

The house will pay homage to Shiv Charan Gupta, a member of the first Delhi assembly.
