New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav have alleged Congress has struck a deal with BJP to get the party’s support on Nuclear Liability Bill. As part of the deal, the Yadav leaders alleged, CBI has given a clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Gujarat riot cases and Sohrabuddin case.

As the government today tabled the Nuclear Liability report in both Houses of Parliament after getting support from BJP, the RJD and SP chiefs alleged a nexus between Congress and BJP, media reports say.

The Yadav leaders charged the Congress with striking a deal with the BJP to let Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi off the hook in the SIT investigations into his role in Gujarat riot cases in return for its support for the Nuclear Liability Bill, says an NDTV report.

Referring to some media reports, Lalu reportedly told reporters outside the Parliament that the reported clean chit given to Modi in the Sohrabuddin case was a result of the deal.

“Congress and BJP are together on several issues…Today’s media reports indicate that Modi has been given a clean chit by CBI in the Sohrabuddin case,” Lalu Yadav has been quoted as saying. He further claimed that former Gujarat junior Home Minister Amit Shah could not have taken a decision on the Sohrabuddin matter without the knowledge of Modi, who heads the Gujarat Home Department.
