As a first step, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon which came into existence two years ago has floated tenders for complete sanitation of the Mehrauli-Gurgaon (MG) Road and even started cleaning a portion of it.

According to the tender, the contractor would be required to continuously remove litter and collect all recyclable solid wastes.

The contractor will also provide dustbins in adequate numbers along both sides of the road and ensure these are at all times clean.

If the experiment on the MG Road goes well, the civic corporation plans to launch its sanitation drive on Cyber City road, Sohna road, Golf Course Road and Faridabad road.

“The tender process will take time. So we have decided to put our men to do the job till the contract is awarded. We chose the MG Road as it is the busiest and has 12 malls located on it. It witnesses the highest vehicular movement every day,” a senior MCG official told IANS.

The MCG has taken over the work from Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA).
