According to the EOW officials, Vinod Kumar had promised 20-year-old Manoj Kumar (the complainant), both residents of Burail town here, to settle him in Britain and demanded Rs.550,000 from him.

“Manoj paid Rs.150,000 to Vinod and his wife and also gave them his passport. Vinod’s younger brother Kamal lives in China and he sent Manoj there. After reaching China, Manoj again paid the US$3,500 to Kamal,” said an official of EOW here Wednesday.

He added, “Kamal then sent Manoj to Britain on fake documents but he was caught in the airport and the British police deported him to Singapore. Kamal refused to help him further and sent him back to India.”

On reaching India, Manoj registered a case against Vinod, his wife and Kamal.
