Three Maoists held for policeman’s murder

Ranchi : Three Maoists, including two women, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the killing of Inspector Francis Induwar, a police official said Thursday.

“Three Maoists rebels, including two women, have been arrested from Arki block of Khuti district on Wednesday. One of the arrested is Gobardhan Munda, an active member of the Kundan Pahan group,” Raj Kumar Mallik, deputy inspector general of police (DIG), told IANS.

According to sources, a police team raided the jungle hideout of the rebels on a tip-off. Of the four Maoists, Ram Mohan managed to escape by jumping into a dam reservoir from 20 feet height. Munda also jumped into the dam, but his leg got fractured and he was arrested.

Kundan Pahan, who is synonymous with terror in the jungle areas of Ranchi, Khuti and Jamshedpur, was allegedly involved in the abduction and beheading of Induwar in October last year.

Police inspector Induwar was abducted from Hembrom market Sep 30 last year and his decapitated body was found Oct 5.
