Speaking to the 46th Munich Security Conference, Rasmussen said, “What could be the harm if China, India, Pakistan and others were to develop closer ties with NATO? I think there would be only benefits in terms of trust, confidence and cooperation.”

As part of Rasmussen’s plan, a permanent system would be created in which the
major global players could discuss security problems and strategies.

The initiative could even lead to joint training or planning, according to the NATO
chief whose speech to the Munich security meeting focused on the future of the controversial western military alliance.
