New Delhi: Instead of mourning long over the murder of Adv. Shahid Azmi, his younger brother Adv. Khalid Azmi is now preparing to represent the case of 26/11 accused Fahim Ansari. On Wednesday, the court accepted him as counsel for Fahim Ansari. However, the final arguments in the case, likely to begin on March 9, will be made by senior counsel R V Monakshi.
Talking to TwoCircles.net, Khalid Azmi, who normally practices at the Kurla magistrate court and sometimes on bail applications at sessions court said, “I want to take up my brother’s cause and I take it as a matter of both challenge as well as real tribute to him”. For Khalid Azmi, who is practicing for a year, this will be first major criminal case.

“I don’t fear for my life. Cause is more important than my life and I am ready to pay all the prices for it no matter if it’s my life,” determined Khalid told TCN when asked if he doesn’t think he is putting his life into danger by this decision.
Asked who he thinks could be behind the murder of Shahid Azmi, Khalid Azmi, without naming anyone said, “Shahid had no personal enemy; however it can be easily understood who can be behind the murder”.
Denying the role of gangsters as the police claim, he said, “Shahid never received any threats except once in 2006”. He further added, “And it is really unfortunate that, when he tried to meet then Commissioner of Police A N Roy, he was denied”.
29-year-old advocate Khalid Azmi is one of the younger brothers of Adv. Shahid Azmi, who was gunned down by some unidentified persons on 11 February at his office in Mumbai.
