Islamabad : Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majid on Saturday came up with a tough reaction to the reported remarks from Indian army chief that Indian military is ready to battle Pakistan and China at the same time.
According to Indian newspaper, India Daily, General Deepak Kapoor said that Indian Air Force, Navy, and Army are effectively ready to face Pakistan and China.
Responding to a question asked on the Indian Army Chief’s Jingoistic pronouncement of Indian military preparations to fight China and Pakistan simultaneously, Chairman JCSC General Tariq Majid said, “leave alone China, General Deepak Kapoor knows very well what the Indian Armed Forces can not and Pakistan Armed Forces can pull off militarily”.
According to an army statement, General Tariq doubted veracity of Indian media report attributed to General Kapoor stating that “he could not be so outlandish in strategic postulations to fix India on a self destruct mechanism. “But if the news report is correct, the uncalled for rhetoric only betrays lack of strategic acumen,” he said.
In a veiled reference to India, the Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani yesterday said Pakistan Army was fully alert and alive to the full spectrum of threat that continues to exist in conventional and non-conventional domains.
“Proponents of conventional application of military force, in a nuclear overhang, are chartering an adventurous and dangerous path, the consequences of which could be both unintended and uncontrollable,” General Kayani told senior officers at the General Headquarters (GHQ).
The ISPR statement quoted the COAS as saying, “peace and stability in South Asia (and beyond) is the logical and fundamental principle underlining the security calculus/paradigm of Pakistan.”
Referring to India’s quest for acquiring weapons, Gen. Kayani said: “Pakistan is not oblivious to the unprecedented acquisition of sophisticated military hardware, synergised with an offensive military doctrine.”
Pakistan Army stands committed and prepared to respond to any existing, potential or emerging threat, he said.
