Canadian delegation meets Punjab, Haryana ministers

Chandigarh: A Canadian delegation Friday met Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and discussed investment opportunities in the state.

The delegation was led by Michael De Jong, attorney general (minister) of canada’s province of British Columbia.

“Jong has offered to invest in the field of wood forestry and said that superior quality of wood can be directly brought from British Columbia to Haryana. He also suggested to set up a centre in the state for imparting training to the youth to generate more employment opportunities for them,” a Haryana government spokesperson here said.

“They have shown interest in extending cooperation in the fields of aviation and fire fighting. Hooda has assured the Canadian delegation all possible help to strengthen bilateral relations between Haryana and British Columbia,” he said.

The delegation also met Punjab’s Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal Friday and explored the possibilities of promoting relations in the field of education, particularly vocational education, training and on enhancing trade and investment between both the countries,” said an official spokesperson of the Punjab government.
