Kerala satisfied with AMU-Malappuram progress

Aligarh: A Multi Ministerial Consultative Meeting held today at Trivandrum, expressed the satisfaction on the progress made by the Aligarh Muslim University in starting the Center at Malappruam.

The meeting was attended by Mr. K.P. Rajendran, Minister for Revenue and Land Reforms, Mr. M.A. Baby, Minister for Education & Culture, Dr. T.M. Thomas Issac, the Minister of Finance and Public Works, Mr. Paloli Mohammad Kutty, Minister of Local Self Government and Mr. N.K. Premachandran, Minister of Water Resources.

The Kerala Government was represented by Mr. Kurulu John, Principal Secretary, Higher Education and Mrs. M. Hariharan, Revenue Secretary.

The Aligarh Muslim University was represented by the Vice Chancellor, Professor PK Abdul Azis, member of the University Court, Mr. M.I. Shanawas, Member of Parliament and Officer-on-Special Duty of AMU’s Malappuram Center, Prof. Arif Ali.

The Government of Kerala promised to handover another piece of land comprising two hundred and thirty one acres before the end of this month. The State Government has also consented to hire a building and hand it over to AMU for starting BA LLB and MBA programme in the current academic session. The group of Ministers presided the meeting also agreed to provide temporary road, water connection and telephone facility immediately at the allocated land of the AMU Center at Malappruam.

It will also provide a sub-station and make special provisions for water supply to the new Centre.

It is also agreed during the meeting to provide rain harvesting technology and re-use of the water.
