Selective leaks in Sohrabuddin case: BJP

By IANS,

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday said there were selective leaks to the media in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake shootout case and that it will take requisite political steps against “misuse” of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Responding to queries about Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Amit Shah having been summoned by CBI over the killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh in a staged shoot-out in Ahmedabad, BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the minister’s name was not there in two inquiries conducted in the case.

“What legal course is to be taken, it is for him (Shah) to decide. But there are some glaring facts. The entire matter was examined by SIT (Special Investigation Team) of Gujarat and SIT appointed by the Supreme Court and his name was not there,” Prasad said, adding that there were selective leaks in the media.

“The BJP will take all requisite steps against misuse of CBI,” he said.

Shah Thursday failed to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which had summoned him. The investigating agency later served a second notice on him directing him to appear before it at 1 p.m. Friday.
