Islamabad : At least 32 people died and dozens were injured after torrential rain hit Pakistan, local media reported Thursday.
Hundreds more were left homeless by the floods, as the heavy rain wreaked havoc across the country.
Twenty-two people died, mainly in house collapses and accidental electrocutions, in the eastern province of Punjab, the northwestern province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and the adjoining tribal region, Duniya television reported.
At least 10 more were killed when flash floods hit Barkhan district of the southwestern province of Balochistan, Geo TV reported. Over 50 people were still missing after the floods inundated 30 villages.
Streets were flooded across Lahore, capital of Punjab, disrupting traffic, public transport and communication systems.
More rain was on the way with a second round of tropical rains forecast from July 27, the national meteorological office predicted.
Last year, 26 people died and more than a hundred were injured after monsoon rains lashed the country in July.
