The study, by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), said: “New areas of apple cultivation have appeared in Lahaul and Spitti and the upper reaches of Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh.”

The agriculture ministry released the study here Wednesday.

A rise in temperature reduces crop duration, increases crop respiration rates and affects the equilibrium between crops and pests, says the study.
