Bhubaneswar : It was another hot day in Orissa Thursday as temperatures in many parts of the state crossed 45-degree mark. One person died due sunstroke, taking the toll since March to 37, officials said Thursday.
Sambalpur town recorded the highest temperature of the day at 46.8 degrees Celsius followed by Hirakud (46.6 degrees), Sundergarh (46.0 degrees) and Bhabanipatna, Titlagarh and Jharsuguda at 45.5 degrees Celsius each, an official of the meteorological centre said.
The maximum temperature recorded at state capital Bhubaneswar was 36.4 degrees Celsius, he said.
An official of the state relief control room confirmed the death of one person due to sunstroke and said the toll due to heat since March was 37.
