New Delhi : Delhi University, India’s premier university, Wednesday began admitting students for undergraduate courses, with thousands crowding the sprawling main campus and its affiliated colleges.
Anxious students stood in queues as they filled up forms and paid the annual fees after the university issued its first list Tuesday giving the minimum percentages needed for admission into various colleges.
“There is enough time for admission as the process will continue till Friday. Students don’t have to rush for admission,” Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, deputy dean of students welfare, told IANS.
The first cut-off list saw an increase, over last year, of the minimum percentages scored in the school leaving examination to secure admission.
A second cut-off list will be out Saturday and a third, and possibly a fourth, will follow.
Delhi University, founded in 1922, has 14 faculties, 86 academic departments and 79 colleges. Its student population is about 220,000. The university attracts students from all over India and abroad.
